We bought this high end hot tub to ensure we had something in 2020 that didn’t present challenges or difficulty. In perfect 2020 fashion this hot tub was the worst purchase we’ve ever made. It has been nothing but a hassle and headache.
We had a variety of Caldera repair specialist come out to repair it and we are still plagued with the same issue we had the minute we powered it up for the first time in August. Parts have been replaced and are now being replaced again as they are also defective, the mother board has been replaced, the tub recoded, high limit switches have been replaced and the heater, you name it, it’s been done!
Today, on Christmas Eve, two more repair men were scheduled to come to give it its “final fix”, so I went out to the tub to check it out before their arrival the tub had drained completely since their service call yesterday and was exposed to our Canadian winter. Upon inspection the plug on the already replaced heater malfunctioned. Now the tub is winterized and unusable over the holidays.
On a different note, the chlorine system reacted with my skin so we upgraded to the salt water system (~$1000) upgrade and it too doesn’t work as it can’t create its own chlorine.
If your looking for a spa DO NOT purchase a Caldera. I sincerely hope this review saves others the frustration we have encountered.

Problems with the salt cleaning system

Tub ran well for three months, then salt system started going on the blink, reducing the tub's ability to keep itself clean. The device on the side of the tub has had problems throughout this market area, and has been replaced at least half a dozen times--to no avail. The tub gauges read OK salt levels, but the water tests four times two high. So something is clearly wrong--apparently the controller (under the tub) needs to be fixed or replaced. Mike's Direct, the sales company, can't or won't fix it so far, so we are very disappointed. If they can't/won't fix it, we'll go back to bromine bobbers and frequent changes in water. For now, though, BEWARE of problems with salt cleaning system!

I purchased a Caldera Spa this year and its been an absolute nightmare. The spa arrived broken and after going through 3 different repair companies I still have a non-working Spa. Caldera does not have any interest in helping their customers for what they've said is a warranty item. Extremely disappointed. I paid a premium price for a premium warranty and even after spending thousands haven't been able to use the tub ONCE.
What a headache.

Third major leak in a 12 month period. We have also had countless cracked panels and yes it has taken over a year to get one replaced. Now we have another cracked panel! Go figure! I've lost count on the cracked panels! The integrity of the frame for the hot tub is no longer supporting the hot tub! No idea why we have another major leak but this is considered a catastrophic failure all the way around. Let's see if Caldera is a reputable company and steps up to the plate!! We are done with it and we are demanding 100% refunded!! Our hot tub was purchased in August 2014 and delivered and installed in October of 2014.

I purchased a Utopia Geneva from Sweetwater Hot Tubz here in San Antonio, TX less then thirteen days ago. At this point my wife and I are very displeased with the Watkins Caldera Spa product and the lack of service support and concern for the problems we reported to Sweetwater Hot Tubz personal. During the sale and purchase period we were sold on the high quality of the Caldera spa and the great service we could expect from Sweetwater Hot Tubz. We are finding both the spa quality and service support are far below what was stated. Our spa was delivered on May 30 2014, the next day we found that the spa had tripped the circuit breaker. When I reported this to the sales person he showed little concern. The night of June 5th was the first time we used the spa. On June 8th I checked the spa and found a part in the bottom of the spa. In our single use of the spa we had also found that the control panel buttons stick. Monday June 9th I discovered addition jet parts in the bottom of the spa but also that the control panel was malfunctioning. The display of the control panel had scrolled down to where parts of menu items were not visible and the tub would not respond to some button presses, its function was erratic. When these things were reported to the same store person again he showed little concern for how we believed these to be serious issues. Now we are waiting for a service person to show up over three days latter to repair a spa we've had less then two weeks. The Watkins Caldera spa product is not showing to be a quality product and the Sweetwater Hot Tubz service and support is far below what has been stated.

TOOK OK THE PURCHASE OF A GENEVA,
ON FITTING ELECTRICALLY 875 DOLLARS THE CALDERA SUPPLIED 20 A BREAKER WAS FAULTY ONE HOUR LATER AS FREEZING HAD TO BABYSIT THE SPA OVERNIGHT THEY REPLACED THE BREAKER BUT WE HAD 153.75 OF ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL CHARGES. DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM. SAME DAY REPORTED A LEAK TO RHS THE HOT TUB ENGINEER SAID IT WAS THE CAPS OFF GTHE CONTROLS BUT THAT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT SO HE DIDNT EVEN INVESTIGATE THE RHS PANNEL 24 HOURS LATER WE STILL HAVE A SIGNIFICANT LEAK SERVICE AND CARE OF BUILD LACKING HERE..
HAVEN BEEN ABLE TO USE IT YET SO CANT REVIEW THE SPA IT S SELF

I have had my Caldera Spa for about 7 years. The sound system whent out in the first 6 months of having the spa. The dealer then advised me that the sound system that came installed in the spa was not water tight and not covered with warrenty. After about 5 years the siding started falling off and now the heat pump has gone out. The spa we had before this lasted 12 years with no issues. Caldera was not worth the money I paid.
